Digging the Foundations

Day two...

'All 7 labourers were digging today and smashing rocks up. We had a particularly difficult part to dig at the end of the plot which if we didn’t do something very inventive it would have shortened the classrooms by over a meter.

The guys managed to move two boulders which were about 1m in diameter and smash a pathway through some of the other awkwardly situated rocks I then knocked up some shuttering and we were ready to concrete.

4 trailers of ballast and sand had been delivered during the day which also had to be loaded and removed by hand, nothing is easy here.

So, by the end of the day all the foundation trenches had been dug and pegged ready for the pour the following day.'
