Borne from a personal visit to Africa 5 years ago, Duncan came across a dilapidated school in the Nandi province, a small village in Kenya. Villagers had started to refurbish the run down school but had to abandon the project having run out of money.
This led Duncan and his partner Petra to begin working with the villagers & got the project back on track thanks to his fundraising efforts. Duncan rasied £2,760 & built the first two classrooms at the Kipsamoite Primary School, furnished with desks & chairs built by the local carpenter.
And this is the journey so far. Building began at the end of January 2017 and was completed by mid-April 2017. Everyone worked so incredibly hard & put their heart & soul into everything.
100% of every penny raised went into this project & we could not be more grateful for everyone's help & contributions.
The school still has no water.
“The school currently use a donkey to help do the 1.5 mile trek to the local river to colllect it!” said Duncan
We now need your help to continue with Duncan’s plans & we need to raise £30,000 for...
10 more classrooms
install a toilet block & hygiene program
build a new kitchen to support a school dinner scheme
introduce a child sponsor programme to provide school fees and uniforms for the most disadvantaged children.
Once the project progresses, there is also a Church / Community Center to rebulid & we plan to keep going.
With no fat cat business men or third parties involved, every single penny is managed by Duncan & goes directly into paying for the materials & labour to make it all happen.
